I walked the Sunnyside trail for trash today. I didn't see any trash except for a few small wrappers which I collected and moved some limbs/debris off the path.

This was from watching the "Kiss the Ground" documentary. I am emailing my notes but the main idea I pulled from the documentary is that a lot of our environmental issues can be improved by restoring and caring for the soil. They label it as the root of a lot of climatic turmoil. Years of over-tilling and pesticide use have eroded the soil, created other climate problems, and damaged human health (many pesticides are suspected carcinogens). The video suggests a turn to regenerative farming, which is a method to restore the soil and decrease carbon outputs.
This was our third data collection day at Natural Bridge. We performed all the same tests but also helped get the instruments calibrated before beginning. There was also a group of students watching us work from Americorps. I included the additional half hour we did two days later to measure E coli on 11/3/20.
This was our second data collection day at Natural bridge. We did the same as we did the first time, measuring DO, pH, turbidity, air and water temperature, and taking samples for E coli testing. We did see analysis back at the RACC office in town for DO and E coli. I have included the additional half hour we did the following Tuesday (10/7/20) to measure the E coli colonies at the RACC office.
This was from when we went back to the office to count E coli colonies (needed a day or so to grow) from our data collection day two days prior.
This was our first data collection day at Natural Bridge! We measured pH, dissolved oxygen, water and air temperature, turbidity, and E coli levels. We had to finish the analysis of DO and E coli back at the RACC office.
This was our first in person meeting with Sandra! We met with her outside Hillel and went over expectations and the manual for sampling techniques. We also went through the community learning agreement form. We made plans for our first sampling outing.
These were hours from watching the training video for water sampling to familiarize ourselves with the techniques we would use in the field.
