Rockbridge Area Relief Association (RARA)

Founded in 1972, the Rockbridge Area Relief Association (RARA) is the largest not-for-profit organization alleviating hunger and addressing poverty in the Rockbridge area. Headquartered in Lexington, Virginia, the Food Pantry and Helpline serve Rockbridge County and the cities of Buena Vista and Lexington. RARA's mission is to aid Rockbridge area households in a time of emergency when help is needed to meet life's basic needs.
Coronavirus Update:
RARA has made the tough decision to not allow undergrad and law students to volunteer in-person until cases decrease. Although we love having students on site, we must limit opportunities for exposure for our clients and other volunteers. The only exception is for students who have received 2 doses of the vaccine and wait 7 days after that to volunteer. We will partner with students to do remote volunteer work when possible. We will monitor the area's Covid cases and revisit our decision as necessary.

As always, we are limiting the amount of people in our building at the same time to ensure the safety of staff, volunteers, and clients.
Please do not volunteer if you are sick or have visited somewhere with a known outbreak in the last 2 weeks.
